Baptism

A SYMBOL OF OUR IDENTIFICATION WITH CHRIST’S DEATH, BURIAL, AND RESURRECTION.

We’re so excited that you are ready to take the next step towards baptism! If you are an adult seeking more information about baptism, or would like to register for our Baptism Class, click the "Register" button and one of our Deacons or Staff members will contact you about the next steps.

We also have a kid's Baptism Class called Jumpstart. This class is designed to help kids begin their spiritual journey and learn together about what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

ADULT BAPTISM CLASS

A one-hour class so that people can explore the topic and understand the logistics of baptism before making the decision for themselves. The class is open to anyone without any pressure to pursue baptism.

KID'S BAPTISM CLASS

Kids at Westside have their own family-friendly baptism process. Parents and kids attend a class called Jumpstart to talk about what baptism is and to decide if that's something they are ready to do. Click the graphic below for more information.

Between now and when you are contacted, consider the following principles of baptism:

  1. When we are baptized we are following the command of Jesus (Matthew 28:19-20)

  2. When we are baptized we are following the example of Jesus (Matthew 3:13-17)

  3. When we are baptized we are identifying with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus (Romans 6:4)

  4. When we are baptized we are declaring publicly that we are personally choosing to follow Jesus and are unashamed to identify ourselves with his body, the Church.

At Westside we baptize by immersion because the Koine Greek (the language of the New Testament) word ‘baptizo' means, to immerse.

If you have further questions about baptism, please consider attending our Baptism Class on the third Sunday of each month, or contact Tiffany Bergh at tbergh@wchurch.tv.
