Broken Nation

I can’t count the number of times I’ve heard someone make the statement “what we need in this country is __"you fill in the blank"__.  From the boardroom, to backyard & barnyard philosophers alike, people state their case like a fiery lawyer. They try to convince a jury of their peers, just exactly what is wrong with this country. Honestly, I too have found myself as the prosecuting attorney indicting my country and fellow countrymen on the social ills of the day.

Clearly, this response is born out of a sense of heartbreak and frustration. We see problems in our streets, schools, boardrooms, in our nation’s capital and yes, in our churches. Day after day, a steady stream of brokenness confronts us with our own eyes and through the news media. All of this information reminds us how broken and seemingly rudderless we are

The problems are real and we need to address them. We often focus on the symptoms, rather than the root cause. Let’s stop focusing on the symptoms and deal with the root cause.  The truth is friends, we have a sin problem in this country and it shows up in every aspect of our lives!  Our real enemy is the devil himself. Listen to what Ephesians 6:12 says: “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”

If you want to really make a difference, then it’s time to answer the call to arms given to us from God’s Word. Jesus says in Mark 16:15, “And go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”

Get out of your comfort zone and share the good news of Jesus Christ with your friends, neighbors and family.
